Could not complete your request because of a program error (Photoshop Elements 11)

When I open a psd file first message is: "Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?"

Option 1: Update YES - returns error message "Photoshop Elements 11 could not complete your request because of a program error".

Option 2: Update No - Photohop opens but all text layers have an error symbol. Clicking them says "Editing or rendering the text layer will cause its layout to change. Continue?" > OK > "Photoshop Elements 11 could not complete your request because of a program error"

Trying to enter a new text layer returns "something prevented the text engine from being initialized"

So can't use photohop at all.. Have already reset Adobe Preferences using Ctrl+Alt+Shift at start up.

The pst error log message says:
"2017:07:24 13:19:32 : ..\..\sources\USheetList.cpp : 235 : REQUIRE failed" - this message is repeated back to 4th Jun 2015 so can't understand why the problem has only just started.

On a Windows 10 laptop, PSE vers 11.0 (20120922.r.32287) x32

Hi Dave,

If you are on windows, please try these steps:

- Close Photoshop Elements.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\TypeSupport\PSE[version].
- Delete the following files:
AdobeFnt_CMaps.lst
AdobeFnt_CommonFonts.lst
AdobeFnt_OSFonts.lst

Regards,
Sandeep

As a write, a major Windows 10 update from today appears to have just fixed the problem for me, although I'm not sure if it's permanent and if this was a Windows or Adobe issue??? Thank you for the quick reply and I'll try this solution if the problem re-occurs.
