A designer gave me his existing .psd file for edits. When importing into PSE, I get these notices. What's going on?

With PSE you might not be able to fix it. It means there was a second file that was 'linked' inside the PSD and that second file is missing. If you can import it flattened, that might work. Or ask your designer to 'embed or rasterize' any linked objects before he sends you the file.

Hi Katherine, Elements doesn't support editing Smart Objects. You can right click on Smart Object layers and choose "Simplify Layer" to edit as a normal raster layer. That may not work well for your designer if you passing the file back to him.

If you need to advanced editing using Smart Objects, I would suggest using Photoshop CC.
