PhotoShop Elements connection issue - Easier to fix or to start over?

Hi, I am using Photoshop Elements 14. I have several files that are not connected anymore due to some directory reorganization. I have tried to used the reconnect function but in many cases it doesn't work. I am confident that that my photos are all saved in a single directory.
Would it be easier to delete all the connections in Photoshop Elements, and reimport the photos, rather than trying to fix the broken connections? If this is the case, how do I delete the connection information? Are there any potential issues if I proceed with deleting and reimporting? Thanks.

I would suggest that you create a new catalogue.  Then import your photos again.  The only thing the catalogue holds is the disk address (c:\users\name\pictures\pic1.jpg for example) , a thumbnail and tags.
Get your photos where you want them before you add them to organizer, then don't move them.

Use File>Save Metadata to Files.  You will lose your albums if you delete all and start a new catalog.  If albums are important, you may want to attach a tag to the images in each album and save to metadata, although some files cannot have added metadata saved.

If you have 'disconnected' or 'missing' files, you can find them from the menu Find >> All missing files. You select them and use the menu File >> Reconnect>> missing files.
The list of missing files is shown. You can use the menu of that dialog (small icon with horizontal bars) to - select all (or select some in the list) - Delete from catalog.
If you delete and reimport, you may at best recover the tags, captions and ratings if you had 'written metadata to to tags. Not albums, stacks, versions sets... That's why it's best to reconnect if possible.

You say you have several files. If there are only a few, let's say less than 100, it might be advantageous to reconnect them manually.
The connection information is deleted together with the thumbnail when you delete the image in the organizer (do not click the option "Also delete selected item(s) from the hard disk"!) . You can then import the "deleted" images back into the organizer by either using the PSE import command Ctrl+Shift+G or simply, drag the image(s) from the explorer window into the PSE window.
