... thanks Jack!!!
Unfortunately this did'nt solve the problem and the Win10-system-files are fine (says "System File Checker" SFC).

DISM
If you are on win 8 (and up) you should also run DISM whether SFC found errors or not!!

... thanks again Jack!
Like SFC, DISM also reports no problems with Win10 ...
... PSE15 still crashes with “Photoshop Elements 15 is no longer working."
I'll try to remove PSE15, like Steve L. suggested, and let you know ...

Good luck!  Although I have not had the same problem with Elements 15, I have had a similar experience with Adobe "Customer Service," if you could call it that (service).  Here's a novel concept:  Maybe we could send a group message to the Adobe sales department suggesting in their advertising for their products something like "Buy this - and you're on your own unless you can find somebody else who has solved the problem.  And good luck with that. Let the buyer beware!"

The SFC is a reset and may not reset completely in the Windows Power Shell unless Windows sees it has a problem.   The corrupt file is a .dll connector to Windows and was furnished from your application.  Remove the application and then reinstall the application which will install the correct .dll file needed to connect with Windows.   Reinstalling from a download may have more updates than the original disc.   You can get the download version at this link.  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-downloads.html

Re-use your original serial number.  Don't know it?  IF you registered your product that serial numb er will be listed in your own sign-in, here.  https://accounts.adobe.com - click on  "manage account", "Plan & Products"  and "view your products".   Complaining about a manufacturer won't improve your own.   It'll only make most technicians want to shy away from you.

JM, and Harold,

First Harold, your Adobe customer service evaluation is not warranted, because this is a Windows problem, and in this forum we really don't have to help you with Windows, but I just happen to be a Windows engineer in this forum who is willing to help.

Now for JM, the error message "Photoshop elements 15 is no longer working..."  is a very common error message that goes back to the XP days also but it has to do with your Windows Operating system or your hardware which is more likely.   It could also be your browser which you don't mention a version of.   Then again, it could be a bad sector on your drive that's letting you know its going out.   The app will still work regardless even if this message came on screen.   I have canceled such messages and kept working with the same application, regardless.

The SFC reset may not have resolve this type error message because this error message can pop up at anytime.   I had you reset the SFC only because you mentioned an update.  Also, as Jack mentioned, the DISM is a good search for errors.  But Windows resolves these errors in Windows 10 so if this common error is on screen, I am surprised it still there after a reinstall.  If you had Windows update 1707 but not 1709 then you need 1709 which will reset applications after an update.   If you don't have that update, wait for it.

BTW this is as much customer service I can administer for free yet you still complain.  I am doing whatever I can to help for free.   If you don't have any real useful information for me to work with, this bus has stopped for me.   ok?
