Elements 12 - uncecipherable photo names

When I imported my pictures into Photoshop Elements Organizer, "My Folders'" named the photos with indecipherable names;ie., %+sBbwhwTyzV6ohKVX1F2w.

I have no clue what photo is in what folder. I have to open each picture. It's tedious, time consuming and unbearable! I'm afraid to delete the folder else I might lose the photos. It would be a nightmare to open each one and compare it to another folder as there are hundred's of pictures.

What happened?
Thanks,
Sylvia G

Are you on a Mac, by chance? Using iPhoto?
How did you 'import' your pictures? from camera/card reader or from files and folders?

My PC crashed 2013, purchased an iMac 27". Had photos on USB drives, downloaded to Mac! Yes, did use iPhoto at first till I rechecked Photoshop disc, then downloaded Mac Adobe Photoshop to computer. When bringing photos into Photoshop Organizer, the folder names were undecipherable.
Thanks for your feedback. Sylvia G
