Elements 12: Editor will not Open

My Photoshop Elements 12 Editor will not open. None of the fixes discovered online will work. I have tried reinstalling twice, shut down my anti-virus software, checked my prefs.psp file (it has nothing in it) and I am at a loss what to do now. I am running Windows 7. If it cannot be corrected, is it possible to get a credit towards cs5? Thanks, Kim Tiano

What do you mean "will not open"? Exactly what happens when you launch the program?

The welcome screen comes up. When I click on the editor, the blue bar appears like it is trying to open then nothing happens and the blue bar goes away. I tried the Control+alt+shift and nothing happens either.

Hi Kimberly,

Please follow these steps:
Try to rename SLCache to Slcache.old
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
and
SLStore to Slstore.old
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

and Right Click on the Photoshop Elements 12 icon and run as administrator

Let me know if this works.

Thanks
Sandeep

Help.  I get the error message, "adobe photo shop elements (editor) has stopped working."  I tried your fix but I cannot follow the tree past Adobe, no SLStore.  I am using windows 7 and photo shop elements 7.  Thanks

Sandeep,

I already upgraded to Elements 13 and am having no issues with it. Thanks for your response.

Please help me.
I've just purchased $400 worth of Photoshop actions and the Photoshop Elements 12 that I have will not launch on my computer.
I open pse 12 and it asks me to enter my adobe id and password. When I type it in, the screen goes dark and it will not load.
I just spent 3 hours chatting with an Adobe employee who couldn't help. I am devastated that I won't be able to use these expensive new actions.
Please help!.

HI Sandeep,

I also have problem in this area, the story is that I uninstalled the element from my old laptop without deactivate. I learned that I need to deactivate first. So i re-installed it back twice, but afterwards, I can't invoke the element 12, it also did not ask me to sign in. Try to follow your instruction above, But I don't have SLStore in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe nor SLStore folder in
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore in my machine.

My first uninstall is by going into the "control panel". the second uninstall is when I tried to install the element again using the DVD. I didn't clear all the associated references when been asked.

I have win 7 laptops. I can only have the old laptop for a short while.

FYI, I've been able to get around this. I did rename the files as Sandeep had recommended. I also went directly to the application file (Program Files (x86)>Adobe>Photoshop Elements 12 and, once there, select the PhotoshopElementsEditor application and right-click> Run as Administrator.

I'm back up and running again... finally!

I tried Sandeep's suggestion and renamed SLCache directory. But there is no ProgramData directory on my \C: The solution did not work for me.

I also tried Michael Elkins' approach. It did not work either. In both cases, the PSE initial window would pop up after I run the application as administrator. If I click the Photo Editor button, the PSE window will go away and nothing else will happen. If I click the Organizer button, the organizer would start and works! except the Editor button at the bottom (which is supposed to switch over to Photo Editor) won't function at all.

I have struggled on this issue for days and get very frustrated. Please help. Thank you very much.

My organizer works just fine, but when I launch the program the editor asks me to sign in, which I do. I get a please wait and then NOTHING. I have tried to launch for the organizer and the same thing happens. Tried uninstalling and installing again but the same results. Adobe no longer supports this program and told me to go online to ask for help. Frustrated

I have a similar problem.    For decades Elements 12 opened fine.   Now when I try to open the program it sticks on initializing suites and doesn't move past that window.   The action circle is rotating but when I open the task manager, it shows that the program is not responding.   If I right click and run as administrator it does the same thing.     I've tried in vane to find the files mentioned above but can't find either one in Windows Explorer.   I'm using Windows 7 on a PC.   Oddly enough, the organizer opens fine.  Only the Photo Editor won't completely open.

BTW: I also use Photoshop CS2 and it stops at the same window and the task manager, again, indicates the program is not responding.   However, my Photoshop Elements 13 opens fine.  I'm a cartoonist for a couple of flyfishing magazines and use the programs for my cartoons.   Fortunately, 13 is still opening but I like to scan images directly into the editing program and 13 doesn't allow me to do that.  CS2 and 12 do.

I (frustratingly) have this problem that I cannot access the editor in elements 12!  The files mentioned in this forum are just not on my C drive
