Trying to activate Photoshop Elements 12 for quit some time, even editing the hosts file (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\) hasn't helped.

Check your network connection and hosts table -- for some reason your system is unable to access the adobe servers.

Thank you for the fast reply. I've already tried that, as I wrote yesterday, no result. The hosts file (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\) seems to do nothing. Elements 12, still tries to connect to www-du1.adobe.com . Can you please get me a patch so the activation process will go thru another server.

Other people can reach the server, so there is little chance that this is a problem with the software.
But something about your network or your system is preventing it from communicating with Adobe's servers. You need to troubleshoot your network connection and make sure that you don't have any bogus entries for adobe.com in your hosts table.

I've actually commented all entries out. But still the software tries to get access to www-du1.adobe.com. So usually internet connections work flawlessly. It's just this Adobe activation server that won't connect to my location in Berlin, Germany.

Alright, check for system firewall settings or anything else on your system that would interfere with normal network traffic.

Disabled the firewall first of course.
