Photoshop delete button fills area

can someone help me? When i select an area and i click the delete button on my keyboard, it wants to fill the area. pls help me

Je werkt met de achtergrond laag - je moet die converteren naar een normale laag die transparantie ondersteunt.

Howdy Jonas,

Yes, that is the correct default behavior when working on a background layer.  If you're working with a regular layer, then the Delete key should work normally.  To change a background layer into a regular layer, simply double-click it, rename it (optional), and click Ok.

Oh that is SO 20th century. Much easier, simply left-click on the lock icon.<G>  To rename, double-click directly on the name. Wish it wasn't so easy to bring up the Layer Styles dialog doing that,but guess we can't have everything on a very crowded layer.  '-}
