Photoshop CS6 functions, but doesn't save. The error message is "Could not save as “filename.xxx” because the file is already in use or was left open by another application. Not such error running High Sierra and previous OS.

I am having the same issue after an upgrade to Mojave.

'Save' and 'Save as' no longer work.

The only way I can save anything is using 'save for the web' which doesn't let me save psd files with layers.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Similar issue. I can save to my desktop but I cannot save to the network. Some files when I open tell me it's locked and changes cannot be saved.

I've just created an article on this. (see https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/158171-workaround-for-saving-with-photoshop-cs-5-6-in-macos-... ).
TL-DR it is a problem with APFS.

So use a USB device with a non-APFS partition or create a virtual volume which isn't APFS and save there.
You could use this area to edit photos and then move them around in Finder when you are done.

I have Photoshop CS5 and recently updated to Mojave. I cannot save, save as, or in ANY WAY alter and save pictures, old or new.  It says "can't save as something else is open". Have tried every work around for this evidently well know Adobe bug. Tried making sure i'm in VIEW, that nothing else is on, made my backup drive manual rather than automatic, Unselected icon views.  Have changed the file names. Made sure Finder was deselected. None of the workarounds work and I need to get some work done. Help please!
This is a major glitch.
