Photoshop CS6 functions, but doesn't save. The error message is "Could not save as “filename.xxx” because the file is already in use or was left open by another application. Not such error running High Sierra and previous OS.

TL-DR it is a problem with APFS.
So use a USB device with a non-APFS partition or create a virtual volume which isn't APFS and save there.
You could use this area to edit photos and then move them around in Finder when you are done.

I have Photoshop CS5 and recently updated to Mojave. I cannot save, save as, or in ANY WAY alter and save pictures, old or new. It says "can't save as something else is open". Have tried every work around for this evidently well know Adobe bug. Tried making sure i'm in VIEW, that nothing else is on, made my backup drive manual rather than automatic, Unselected icon views. Have changed the file names. Made sure Finder was deselected. None of the workarounds work and I need to get some work done. Help please!
