Photoshop CS5 has stopped working on Win 7 as of security update KB3079904. After the update CS5 will not launch. If I undo the update, it launches again.

Please release an update sometime so CS5 will run on Win 7 again. I have a CC membership, but I am frustrated that my previous version of Photoshop which I own outright and was designed for Win 7 no longer works on Win 7.

I have a 64-bit Win 7 PC running Windows 7 professional.

Hi David,

I am afraid that Photoshop CS5 isn't supported any longer.  CS5 is over five years old, with four major releases (CS6, CC, CC 2014, and CC 2015) available since it was developed.  In software terms, that's beyond obsolete...

The fact that the app used to work fine on Win 7 but no longer works after a new security update of Win7 clearly points to the cause as the updater.  When it was released, CS5 ran on the versions of Windows supported by Microsoft at that time.  If Windows has been subsequently mutated, that would be an issue with the company that made those ex post facto changes (Microsoft).

Said another way, it's kinda hard to score a touchdown if the goal posts are moved (five years) AFTER the play but the new location (outside the stadium) becomes the end zone retroactively...

Sorry,
David
