Every time I start using my Photoshop CS4 it keeps crashing, usually when trying to use the text tool. What can I do to fix this issue! I'm so frustrated! I can't even use the program because it crashes shortly after opening.

What does the long, detailed crash report say?

I followed the validation of fonts and deleted the problem fonts. I tried to install the Photoshop update and it said it was already installed. Is there any way to fix this? Will I need to uninstall and re-install Photoshop? If I did that do you think it would fix the problem?

No, the problem is still with a bad font or OS font cache. You'll have to go through ALL the troubleshooting steps to eliminate bad fonts or delete the OS font cache.

As for the update: yes, you might have to uninstall and reinstall to get everything working again. I don't know why it says you have the update installed when you don't.

I did all the troubleshooting steps and it looks like it worked! Hopefully when I have a chance to really work with my program it will all function properly! So far so good! It has stayed open for more than 5 minutes without crashing but I don't have a lot of time right now to work with it. Thank you again for all of your help! I feel encouraged now! :o)~

Great news! Let us know if you encounter further trouble.

Also, we have added a lot of safety code to our font handling since CS4, so more recent versions of Photoshop are more resilient when encountering corrupt fonts, corrupt OS font caches, and known issues in OS font handling.
