Photoshop: Freezing in Motion Workspace.

I haven't had this problem before, but today editing videos Ive crashed around twenty times. The file size at the moment is 190MB, about 32 layers panels in groups and six audio tracks. Ive done a check of my hardware, and it says its all healthy and Ive got about 27Gig ram unused. Ive upped the ram available to Photoshop and upped the cache levels in the photoshop settings.

Is there something in photoshop Im missing?

What OS version are you using?
What version of Photoshop are you using?
What does the detailed crash report say?

Hello Chris,
Im running x64 Win 8.1 on an i7-4770 3.4GHz with 32GB Ram AMD R7 200 card.
Photoshop CC.
Ive rendered the video several times and the machine still seems to have its normal performance.
Ive rendered to video to collapse all the layers before going back and doing the audio edit to try see if I was just asking too much of the machine or of photoshop but I still get the same crash problems.
Now I have to admit to being not too bright and will go looking for the detailed crash report because I dont know about that or where it woudl be hidden.
I get this error message though
Thanks
Rob

What you are seeing is a freeze, not a crash.

It looks like you are using the old version (CC v 14.2.1) and there is a newer version (CC v2014.2.1). Does 2014 have the same issue?

Thanks,
I didnt know there was a difference.
I will have a look around for the updates.
Honestly I thought it would be an automatic process with Adobe.
And all this has to be gone through creative cloud?

Is this supposed to be a nightmare?
Honestly Ive signed in nine times and it gives me this each time.
Yes I know my account name and password.

Ok. So Im freezing up not crashing. Compatability problems with windows? which might be fixed by the latest firmware?
When the place lets me in I might find out.

There were also a number of glitches I didnt mention.
For example, the Audio wasnt behaving. I tend to dive around a bit, switching multiple audio tracks on and off, and cutting (snip) individual audio tracks to take advantage of fade and volume adjustments within a track. At one point, nothnig was masked, everything was turned on and I even checked my speaker settings but the program ... just lost the noise.

Tab is inconsistent. Sometimes I jsut cant toggle through the difffernt views unless I open up a new photoshop pane and Tab that, which works, then come back to the movie edit file.

Ok, quit out of everything I could find in the task manager and manged to delete "opm" file.

Didnt help.

Going to try the IMSLibReplacer next. This is starting to get a bit above an beyond, especially when you should be able to just buy a product that works. They hold a gun to your head with Cloud. And obviously Adobe have a few problems they are dumping on the unwary. If I put a bill in for my time I bet they would just laugh but honestly .... Im starting to get to the furious end of the 1 - 10 scale of unhappiness.

AND this is only to try to get the updates that MIGHT help fix the real problem I have with an Adobe product freezing up!?!

Ok just to bring this up to speed,

Thanks Chris, Jeffrey. Im on the way to sorting the issues but if I hadnt come in here I would still be directionless as I didnt have any idea how to resolve the issue.

The above referenced helpx.adobe fixes steps 1 to whetever didn't work.

I phoned Photoshop sales which sort of gets an immediate pick up. It helped to have this board open because I emailed them the link and they could see what my problem was. At sales they created a case number which saves re explaining to every department you are transferred to. That was easier than explaining from scratch to someone in a call centre who isnt always easy to understand.

Bear in mind I am on PC Win8.1

This is how to get rid of the "You have been signed out" Cloud issue. I know theres a lot of solutions out there on google search but this is from the horses mouth, at CC help department. Dont bother with anything else.

0. Open Creative Cloud go into settings and Quit. Now close it and generally quit out of everything else.

1. Go to control panel/ programs or do a search C drive for "Browser Safeguard", "Rockettab" or "Security Plugins". These are third party ... add ons or whatever, which Adobe is very much aware of and conflict or infect. Use "control panel/ programs/ uninstall a program" to uninstall these if and when you find them.

2. Go into your file explorer and C Drive/ Users/ your name/ Appdata/ Local/ Adobe/ OOBE
Right click and rename OOBE to say "OOBERename" Dont bother going into OOBE.

3. Go into your file explorer and C Drive/ Users/ your name/ Appdata/ Local/ Adobe/ AAMU
Right click and rename AAMU to say "AAMURename" Dont bother going into AAMU.

4 Sign into Creatuive Cloud. "A new version of Creative Cloud" will probably greet you. Follow the install.

At this point it is probably best to restart your computer, rather than download any updates or new apps that are available. Also at this point Adobe might have hold of your desktop and all you see is a blue screen so CTRL_ALT_DEL to the "restart and update" option which will recover your normal desktop.

Head into Cloud and download or update.

Did the new Photoshop CC2014 fix my video editing problems?

Chatting to support they seemed to be familiar with a number of the issues I was having. I have installed the new Ps and it seems to be loaded in addition to he Photoshop CC, so it is probably a clean install.

In some areas the fresh program seems livelier. In video editing, there are still a few bugs around my TAB/F Spacebar keys. To work efficiently you really need these to be robust and not have to mess around with "it works if I first do this or that" kind of thing. Im not a programer or an expert and I guess there could be something between my Wacom Tablet the computer and Photoshop that just doenst quite let it all gell properly. Those keys in video editing are a "work at the moment and now it doesnt" kind of thing which is annoying when you are working up to speed. I dont know where the fault lies. I havent ... "crashed or frozen" yet. Hopefully that whole really awful experience is behind me.

Once again, thanks for the help.
