Color sampler not working correctly in Photoshop CC 2019- instead of getting the tag numbers next to the sampler on the file, I get a magenta circle. There's no way for me to differentiate between which sampler is #1, #2, #3, etc., without figuring it out based on the color values.

What was the solution?

Really no "solution" (I shouldn't have said 'solved', my bad). I kept turning preference options off and on, but keeping the selection the same (which I did last night). It eventually started working fine. But, now I've noticed other little things. Retouching files: erasing items from layers, then when I go to use the burn tool, the preview shows as if I erased more of the current layer, but if I go back to my history window to show my previous snapshot, it shows that the burn tool was used correctly. This keeps happening. I saw someone else's post stating that 20.0.1 on their windows machine is acting up. I am working on a 2017 iMac. CRAZY!

And the problem with the magenta circles is back!
(No changes made to my preferences.)

I am also having the magenta circles without the numbers as color sampler icons. It is intermittent. Sometimes they go away and come back for no apparent reason.
