Photoshop CC weird ram issue

Hey. I've got a ram memory usage problem.

I'm running photoshop CC on windows 10 and a brand new computer with 8GB ram.

This morning when I started working, I worked on a 3,5k*5k pix wide canvas and around 5-10 layers and my PS ram usage went up to 95-100% and I experienced serious lags. So I read up on optimization and did the necessary changes. Deleted cache, optimized memory usage, terminated all other background processes, reduced canvas size, changed scratch disk (to try it), started working on 5 layers maximum, restarted photoshop.

This brought it down to 50% usage. Then, after a few minutes of work, it gradually worked its way up to 93% usage and I experienced great lags again. Then, in an instant, it popped down to 53% without me doing anything. And was running smoothly again.

Any ideas what's causing this? On my older computer with similar specs, I was able to have 100+ layers without any problems, and on bigger canvases. But then I used photoshop 5 and on windows 7.

Would appreciate help. Thank you.

As you can see, in 2 minutes, it popped down to 55% for no apparent reason what so ever.

Does photoshop have a temp memory that fills up incredibly fast?
