Photoshop CC: Normal blending mode for bristle brush painting is broken

Since the latest update, Blending mode doesn't work properly anymore; in fact it seems to act exactly like multiply, when used for digital painting. I have tried a complete reinstall of both Photoshop and my Wacom drivers, but the problem is still there. This makes PS pretty much unusable for digital painting at the moment.

My specs:
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Wacom Intuos Pro 5

The last Photoshop update was in July.
So, which update are you referring to?

And brush and blending behavior haven't changed at all.

sorry, turns out I'm a dunce. I was referring to the recent patch, but it turns out it was just the minimum opacity under the transfer settings for my brushes reset. I've had them like that so long I forgot that wasn't default! Also I was having weird issues with the tablet as well so I though they were related, but a complete removal and reinstall for a second time fixed that. thanks!
