Photoshop CC: Why were tool icons changed?

Just wondering why Photoshop likes to change visual icons, when we're used to one icon, why suddenly change it? We're visual people knowing where things are, and when you change things like that, you only mess us up and slow us down, for no apparent reason.

It's just a question out of curiosity.

Have you compared Acrobat XI and Acrobat DC?
In my opinion the interface changes introduced in Acrobat DC were unjustifiable.

The recent interface changes in Photoshop seem hardly noteworthy to me and I am a bit surprised at the attention being expended on them.

The UI is constantly evolving as witnessed by the graphics here: http://petapixel.com/2015/02/19/happy-birthday-photoshop-heres-a-look-back-on-25-years-of-digital-ph... Like any other product, the look and feel changes for a variety reasons.
