Photoshop CC & Illustrator CC (Jan 2016) latest update very slow on Mac Pro (2013) w/ El Capitan. The update before this was actually (finally) really fast and performant. Never saw the pinwheel and things were fast like they should be on a top of the line computer. The latest update tho has made things ALOT worse. Pinwheel constantly on simple operations like opening the app, other things are a slow again.

Photoshop hasn't been updated since early December of 2015.
And Illustrator hasn't had an update since the end of November 2015.

So, what update are you referring to?
And what else have you updated recently that might be causing a slowdown in two separate applications that don't share much code?

Maybe my timing is off. Let me rephrase: I did updates through the creative cloud app about a month ago and the problems started. If there is a way to see the history of versions installed on my computer I could post the previous version number that I was on. Otherwise Ill assume it was the update before the most recent one.

Can you link me to instructions for how to investigate the possible sources of slowness you've mentioned - possibly a corrupt font or OS font cache - in Photoshop.

For troubleshooting fonts, start here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/...

For troubleshooting utility programs - well, we don't know what you have installed, so can't offer too many specifics. The best approach is usually to disable them all and turn them back on one at a time to see which is causing the problem.

Hi, I just updated to the latest version of PS, and Illustrator (2/10/2016). The pinwheeling problems I was seeing on the start screen are gone, and overall things feel much faster. I was wondering if their is a publicly available changelog for the new release ? I could be an edge case, but either way I am happy. Thanks for the help my issue is resolved.
