PHOTOSHOP CC - Geometric selections appearing on mask

I'm repeatedly seeing a bug with masks - when working with quite complex files (20+ layers/adjustments) two things are happening:

1 - when zooming in/out geometric blocks suddenly appear where mask is not displaying (like a gap in a jigsaw). It only appears at certain magnifications and disappears at others so appears to be a viewing issue only.
2 - at random while working, photoshop then actually applies one or many square selections to a mask unrelated to work I'm doing. Unlike first problem, this is not simply a viewing issue and effect the mask which means I then needs actually go and amending the mask to it's original state.

You can see examples below - where it has changed the opacity in square selections on a curves layer.

I have updated to latest CC version and also re-installed creative cloud but the bug remains. Anyone seen this or can offer any advice to resolve would be gratefully received! It's getting rather irritating...
thanks
Nick

This is a common problem with no clear solution
I've run into this bug many times myself
From what I've gathered it's related to gpu usage but only manifest in certain scenarios (multi layered files)
If you disable gpu in preferences it will probably go away
Tweaking gpu settings from advanced to normal seems to have worked for some people
What system are you using ?
