Photoshop CC “could not build a preview because of a disk error,” so I could not save my work and had to force quit the program. Happened multiple times, even after I updated Photoshop CC to the latest version and restarted my computer. I have storage space on my computer and an external hard drive. How do I solve this error and prevent it from happening?

When Photoshop reports a disk error, it is because the OS returned a disk error (not out of space, but a real error with the disk). This means that there is a problem with one of your drives - but it could be the OS volume or the external drive.

What exactly were you doing in Photoshop when you got the error?

I am just now experiencing the same alert when I try to open any of my photoshop files on CC. All my other Adobe CC programs are opening and saving just fine through the same computer onto the same external hard drive. I have uninstalled and reinstalled from the Cloud. Reinstalling solved the issue.
