This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Photoshop CC 2015: Copy/Paste Layer style works incorrectly

I have had this problem since I updated to the new version of Photoshop CC.

If I have a layer style with a drop shadow or stroke, and I copy that layer style and paste, the drop shadow or stroke parameters are not replicated.

Example:

I just copied the layer style of a rounded rectangle layer with 2px white stroke

Pasted it onto another rounded rectangle layer with no layer effects.

This layer now has a 1px white stroke instead of a 2px.

I don't understand why this continues to happen.

I'm working on a MacBook Pro Version 10.10.5.

Anyone have a solution?

Howdy Ted,

Are you sure that you're running the latest version of the application?  How are you copying and pasting the layer style?

Thanks,
David

Hey David,

Thanks for the reply.

Usually I will just hold option+click and drag the effects. But lately I've been right clicking on the layer and choosing copy layer style to see if that remedies the problem.

And yes, I've been keeping up with the photoshop updates.

Hi Ted,

I tried both OPT+click and right-clicking.  Are you copying and pasting between documents with different resolutions?

Thanks,
David

Hey David - no I'm remaining in the same document for the most part.

We have some fixes around this area coming in the next release, but without changing documents at different resolutions, I cannot reproduce this bug.  Are you sure there isn't one or more other steps or elements involved.  I'd like to be able to say "this will be fixed" or at least figure out the cause of what you're seeing.

Thanks,
David

I wish there was something I might be messing up. The thing is, this is such a simple task and I know there shouldn't be any issue.

Just trying it again here..

Right click on a layer with a stroke sized at 46 pixels, copy layer style, paste on another layer and the layer's stroke size is pasted at 192 pixels. Weird.

I would be willing to wager cash that the source layer was transformed at some point.  That would then explain the bug.  If so, we have a fix in the pipe, which will be available with the next release.

Thanks,
David

Same for me - do something about it asap, please.

It really sucks!
