Photoshop CC 2014: Character weight selection box keeps focus even after clicking elsewhere

I'm having a problem with Character panel. If I change character weight of a text layer, even though I click on document with Move tool, I can't then move the text by nudging with arrow keys because the focus is still on character weight selection. Every other field in character panel (or elsewhere) loses its focus when you click somewhere on the document with Move tool.

Steps to reproduce:
1: Create text layer with some text
2: Select the text layer in Layers panel
3: Change character weight on Character panel, i.e. regular -> bold
4: Change to Move tool and click somewhere on the document canvas
5: Try to move the text around using arrow keys
Resulting behaviour: The text weight changes when arrow keys are pressed.
Expected behaviour: The text moves when arrow keys are pressed.

This is on Win7, 20141204.r.310 x64

Howdy Ville,

At the beginning of step #4, when you press V or click the Move tool, focus to the character weight should be dismissed, right?  That should happen automatically.  I cannot reproduce the issue you're encountering here.  Are you having this problem reliably with all files or only specific ones?

I'd like to help you get to the bottom of this, but need more info.

Thanks,
David

Same happens now in CC 2015. I'm pretty sure this was fixed once in an older version because I have been on this forum with this problem a few years ago, which makes it even more frustrating that this bug is re-introduced.

It keeps focus both if you click canvas or click "v" on the keyboard.

Howdy Ulrik,

Are you getting this all the time?  I cannot reproduce this at all on Win7 or Win10 or even Mac either.

It sounds like a focus issue -- as if the Font Style control is maintaining focus even after the Move tool is active.  I was able to repro when I ALREADY had the Move tool active, but that's expected, cuz well, you have to use the control and we have no idea when you're done until you hit <Enter> or change tools to confirm.

Is that consistent with what you're seeing?

Thanks,
David

Howdy Ulrik,

I'd like to talk with you about this bug.  If I'm understanding this correctly, everything is working as designed.

In step #4, when you switch to the Move tool, if you click on the tool, focus should leave the character weight box.  And, if you use the shortcut for the Move tool, that requires you to press <enter> to confirm you want to move focus.  In either case, at the end of step #4, there's no focus in the Character panel and everything works fine.  Is that not what you're seeing?

If not, what other apps, particularly screen capture and tablet-control apps, are you running or have on your system?

Thanks,
David
