Photoshop CC 2018: Menu bar unresponsive after unlocking 'background layer' on a jpeg to edit

Photoshop CC 2018 — v19.1.2
Mac OS 10.11.6

When I open a jpeg and press option key and double-click the locked layer to edit, the menu greys out and the app becomes unresponsive. I have to force quit.
Repeatable bug.

I tried the option double click and it changed background to layer 0.  If this is still happening for you please let us know what OS version you are running and something about your hardware.

Howdy Stuart,

I understand that you're seeing this repeatably, but how about with different JPGs?  Or are you trying the same one each time?  What other third-party plugins might you have installed?

I happened to have done this on both Win and Mac just this morning running 19.1.2 (in German, no less) and had no problem on either.  I'm wondering what might be different on your machine(s)...

I wasn't able to repro either. A few things that might help us with clues:

1. video recording of what you're doing
2. A sample process when Photoshop hangs
3. Your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.
