Hello Community,

this is collective thread for all noticeable issues and bugs unter mac os Sierra. (currently 10.12.6)

Before i switched to Sierra i searched the net for similar threads, but couldn't find any.

I know that there are still people stuck with previous Mac OS versions because of their stable workflow or company policies. Also a lot of professionals would wait for at least few OS updates before moving ahead with their workflow. These people like myself are willing to know if it's safe to move to Sierra.

Many thanks!

(Please always state your hardware setup and software versions)

p.s. Now that High Sierra is around the corner, i would like to see also similar thread for possible bugs and issues.

here my first impressions after changing from El Capitan to Sierra. it was an upgrade over a prefectly working and maintained El Capitan setup. (not a clean install)
i'm working on a daily basis and noticed some differences the first time i worked under the new environment.
here my list:

  1. Slow and jagged keyboard zoom. When zooming using cmd +, cmd -, the tool needs to warm up, the first key stroke is registered only after sime milliseconds and not instantly? The following commands are executed instantly as expected. Also the same experience whit the cmd space keystroke to zoom in. sometimes the key stroke is not even registered and i end up moving some layer:(
  2. Very slow Screen Mode Change. When changing the screen mode (F key) the change from Standard screen mode and Full Screen with Menus, and back from Full Screen to Standard  Mode is very slow. It was instant under El Capitan. This issue is mentioned here: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-screen-mode-change-slow-in-sierra
  3. Dialogue Boxes don't remember position on second monitor. With dual monitor setup any dialogue box would remember the position on the Primary monitor. If moved to the second monitor and applied there, the second time the action is repeated the dialogue box appears at the edge of the Primary monitor as close as possible to the original position on the second monitor?.
  4. Image Shifted on second Monitor. This bug was also present under El capitan and it's looged officialy as a bug. still present under Sierra and not removed in the past two PS releases?? Here is a better describtion of it: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-cc2017-image-shifted-on-second-moni...
i'm aware that most of the issues are Apple related (except the last one), but i think both developers should try to give us back the flawless workflow from El Capitan:)

many thanks!

Setup:
Mac Pro (Late 2013, Black Cylinder)
Dual AMD FirePro 500
64GB RAM
Dual Eizo CX271 27" (Second is Vertical)
Wacom Intuos4 XL

2 computers and 2 weeks of Adobe Hell. 2 monitors, BenQ 2700PT, IPS,

Before you do anything, save all your presets to a separate hard drive to avoid Adobe from deleting them!! It's like they KNOW where to find those presets, no matter where they are tucked out of site. Good lord. I'm gathering info about Adobe 2017 needs MacBooks to be no older than mid 2015. This is just what I think- don't believe all of what I say- but here is how I've gotten my computers to work.

#1) MacBook Pro - mid 2012, Sierra 10.12.6, successfully running CC 2015.5. However, CC automatically downloaded 2017 and messed up my computer. I had to uninstall and reinstall the whole Adobe suite, multiple times over a week while making sure all 2017 Adobe products stayed closed. . It was tricky, adobe CC is stubborn about insisting you update and use the 2017. The computer and my whole system has taken a 3 day protest on all the changes. I could not get 2015.5 to work without downloading 2017, but I cannot use 2017. Creative Cloud must be updated fully, and I cannot tell which version of application manager I'm running- but that was a nightmare too. From Bridge, I have to state 'open with" even though I have my preferences set to 2015.5. Tiffs, "open with" from finder. Png's same thing. I am leaving a few steps and settings out because frankly I'm not sure what I have done, but it is now working "just ok". I have been a Mac user since 1994, an Adobe user since 2002, so yes, I know how to proceed with software incompatibility. This is the worst update in PS history. I am not a huge fan of the inability to run photoshop without internet every second of the day. I can work for no more than 30 minutes without computer freezing. I can't work at Starbucks or a plane without getting internet access. When my laptop is traveling to another location, it's having trouble identifying me as a legit licensed owner even in my same computer . I understand pAdobe needs to protect their copyright, but it's too restrictive right now.

SECOND COMPUTER

#2). MacPro 2009 - El Capitan 10.11.?, with PS 2015.5 because 2017 is not compatible. (I could be wrong, but my understanding is any 2009 desktop is becoming obsolete and can no longer update to Sierra) Adobe 2017 cannot work with El Capitan, no matter what they say. ADOBE WAS kind enough to allow me to download 2017, take 2015.5 off my computer and THEN tell me my system is not compatible. Adobe is vague on requirements on their webpage. It should be more clear or installer should run a compatibility app before uninstalling 2015.5, along with every preference along with it. Since you send presets to 2017, they can not be accessed after downloading and installing this horrible 2017 app. Same fix as above, download all Adobe legacy apps & photoshop versions 2015, 2015.5, and add 2017 Bridge and Photoshop. But manually use 2015.5 photoshop and Bridge 2015. open your files manually because god forbid 2017 opens. Yes, I know how to have different files open with preferred app, but it's not working properly. My preferences are ignored in some finder windows, Bridge, etc.

Lightroom?? Not going there- still on older version

Oh forgot- graphics cards are perfectly adequate on both machines, but I added a developer app/open access Cuda program to boost the laptop.
