Nik seems to be the difference. Have you checked for updates? Another way to tell is to hold down Shift when starting Photoshop to exclude third party plugins.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Zooming in in photoshop after os x update is not smooth.

When updating to OS X El Capitan, launching photoshop is a bit faster now but i notice as an artist doing digital drawing i zoom in a lot. Zooming in after the update seems choppy and not smooth anymore?

same here, the space-cmd zoom is slow/jerky and the whole feel of photoshop doesn't seem to be better as promised.

Same here - but it's not jerky after it is "ready" - but it is a slight delay - 2 sec - after I start dragging. Until it actually start zooming. But the zoom itself is super smooth. This is the same on all my 3 macs. (2 MacBooksPro and a MacPro)

This is my experience, too. I've already reported this to Adobe, who doesn't think it's their fault. Which is weird – since it only happens in a single Adobe product... to a number of people working across different hardware.

Yepp, yepp - update - I have just installed second beta on El Capitan - on my MacBook Pro - and now - dramatic pause - it seems to work properly again - Yes. Let ut hope that this is not a flash...... I'll come back when I have tested more. So it seems that the problem lies with apple.....

Yes, we have traced this to some specific Apple changes in MacOS 10.11 that are not working correctly. We are continuing to work with Apple to get the issue resolved.

I have a plug-in that works around an API change in 10.11 that causes scrubby zoom and other UI elements like the tools submenu and other menus to not respond initially to clicking and using them. We'd like to validate it with a couple of customers. Let me know if you'd be willing to try it out. I will follow up via email if you say you're up for it.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Scrubby Zoom animation doesn't work in MacOS 10.11 Captain (Photoshop CC 2015).

After updating to OS X Captain animation for Scrubby Zoom doesn't work any more. It does zoom, but doesn't show animation. So it look like I drag mouse, nothing happens while I'm doing this, then zoom changes to some value, based on distance mouse travelled. Again, Zoom tool works, Scrubby Zoom works, only animation for it doesn't work. Still very frustrating.

As for settings, 'Animated zoom' is on, 'Use graphic processor' is on.
Reseting workspace and reseting Zoom tool didn't help either.

@Adam, @Jeffrey I am happily reporting that the plug-in fixed both the Zoom Tool marquee draw delay issue and the Secondary Tools reveal delay issue.

Same here - @Adam, @Jeffery - I totally agree with Carl - everything now works like a charm - only one minor bug left - and that is when scaling brush in the same way, there is a little hiccup right after I do the pick - the brush animation - goes into half size, with a short delay until it's ready - but that is a minor bug. Thanks

Yes I would like to try the plug-in as well. I'm a professional photographer, and the scrubby zoom feature is very important for me to use when I'm editing.

I have found that it is possible to use scrubby zoom with a magic mouse or trackpad by holding down the alt key and using gestures - right or down zooms in and left or up zooms out (Photoshop CS6). In other words, don't move the magic mouse - just move one or two fingers across the top.

If you're a PS CC 2015 user and are having issues with scrubby zoom, please refer to this KB doc which includes a link to the plug-in which should fix the zoom problem on 10.11 (and a few other issues):

Yep, that seems to have fixed the delay in the Zoom marquee and the panning jerkiness, will keep testing and feedback if anything else crops up. Thx to those who created the plug-in so swiftly :-)

This does work "technically", but it is completely unlike the original feature, this one does not position the image properly and overall is hardly usable.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Creative Cloud Photoshop 2015 Zooming and Panning issues with El Capitan 10.11.

Hi folks - currently running Creative Cloud 2015 on a Mac Pro 2013 6 Core, Dual D500's, 1TB, 32GB and El Capitan 10.11. The problem I'm seeing is similar to the scrubby zoom issue, except I use marquee zooming with the zoom tool, and it is exhibiting a couple of second delay before actually drawing the marquee and engaging the zoom - very jerky.

Also Photoshop stutters occasionally when panning with the hand tool - not every movement but if you have a large-ish image it will jerk and stutter at some point during panning - not experienced either of those issues before upgrading to El Capitan.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled photoshop CC zooming issue since last update.

Last update of PS CC2015 (mac version) changed the way zoom works and my productivity is completely down.
Zooming and dezooming precision is totally lost !!!
is it a bug ? is it normal ? how can I turn back to previous behaviour ??
