My Photoshop CC 2015 program opens, but won't function; it won't open new or existing images, whereas it did before the software update. Please advise how to fix.

Howdy Larisa,

What happens when you try to open an existing image?  What happens when you try to create a new image.

I'm happy to help, but I'm going to need more information.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for weighing. I just got off a 1.75 hour support session with "prabir" (Adobe Case Update : 0187145095 : Prabir K), and he was able to take control of my computer and change/add permissions and now it all works correctly.

The question now: What happened when it was all working well before the update then after the update permissions needed to be changed? How do we keep this from happening in the future when I install updates as suggested by Adobe. I'm extremely busy and 1.75 hours of phone support is not acceptable to fix a problem I didn't create (as far as we know, confirmed by prabir).

Howdy Larisa,

Well, I'm not actually in tech support -- I'm a member of the development team.  I moonlight on here so I can a) tackle technical questions which address the areas of the app I work with and b) so I can hear precisely what customers are encountering.  For what it's worth, I have not had a single other complaint similar to yours, so this is new territory.  I'm inclined, therefore, to believe that this was either a fluke or dependent upon some aspect of your particular system.  I don't say that to pass the buck (which would also the defeat the purpose of me helping out here) -- rather, if the problem were more ubiquitous, based on experience with other issues, the forums would have been flooded with similar complaints.  Does that make sense?

If you do encounter any other problems after an update, please ping me via this forum (and ideally this post, since I leave myself subscribed to any I answer), so I can help get to the bottom of the issue.

Thanks and sorry for the loss in productive time,
David

Thanks for the reply. If it's a fluke, no worries; and if it's due to my system, that'd be good to know in order to address in the future. Thus, still some "reason" might be helpful. I just don't want to have to go through this again if it's something "common," but untreated.

Will let you know how it shakes out.
