Photoshop CC 2015.5: Typekit Fonts tracking and kerning are way tighter than the original

Updated to the new Photoshop. When I opened my design (that was created on the previous version of Photoshop) all my fonts were messed up. The tracking and kerning are way tighter than the original, the letters are merging with each other, and the spacing is uneven (even thought the kerning is set to Optical). This is a serious issue and is going to take awhile to fix.

Howdy Richard,

Are you sure that your font wasn't updated or replaced?  There shouldn't be anything in the new version which at all impacts either tracking or kerning in legacy documents.  Did you get a notice that "some text layer might be updated" when you opened the document?

Thanks,
David

Hey David,

Thanks for the reply. Font's weren't updated and there was no notice. I ended up opening the same file on my laptop with the previous version of photoshop and the fonts were how they should be. I checked all the settings for each font and they were identical, but displaying totally different. It could be a problem with the specific font (Futura PT). I opened a different file with different fonts on the two versions of photoshop and they seemed fine.

Howdy Richard,

Yeah, it sounds like you have a different version of the font on the different machines.  If you want to send me the file, I'd be happy to take a look at it. Optimally, if you could duplicate the layer that you're having trouble with on the "good" machine and then rasterize that layer, I can use it to compare what I "should" see with what's happening on your machine (or not, depending on my version of the font).  Or, you could check the versions of the font that you have installed on your machine.  I'd be curious to hear the results.

Thanks,
David

Hey David,

I'm syncing Futura PT through Typekit on both machines. Here is a link to the PSD, jpegs of the page saved out from Photoshop v2015 and 2015.5:

Could you post a PSD file that exhibits the behavior? Might help us quickly repro/troubleshoot.
