Photoshop CC 2014 slows my system down after closing

My system runs very slow after working with very large images (2Gb or more) in Photoshop CC 2014 and then closing it down, This has happened every time I work with large images and continues to do so for hours even after Photoshop has deleted all its temp files.

I have given Photoshop 5Gb of my 8Gb RAM, plenty of hard drive space, etc.

System resources do not show Photoshop as loaded after closing it, but every other program including simple things like file manager take a long time to open and use unless I reboot.

My system is Windows 8.1, all updates applied, i7 processor, 8Gb RAM.

After an application closes, the OS instantly reclaims all the resources.
That means that after the application closes, it cannot have an impact on other applications.

So, something else is wrong with your system. It could be a bug in a driver (disk, network, USB, etc.). It could be a file utility of some kind (antivirus, backup, etc.).
