Photoshop CC 2014: Color Halftone Filter not working after Yosemite upgrade

Just after upgrading to Yosemite from Mavericks on my Early 2009 Imac, I noticed that when in Photoshop (CC 2014) I was only able to use the pixelate>color halftone filter once or twice and then it stopped working. Now, I get no error and no effect in my file. It does however show the addition "color halftone" in my layers panel but again, nothing in my file. Can someone please help me find a solution?

You need to have white around the black areas for the filter to work (won't work if it's transparency).

I've posted and example file here: http://adobe.ly/1xMuPaM

Basically, create a white layer under the black shape layer, then create a smart object from both layers. Then set the blend mode for the Smart Object layer to Darken. Then apply your filters.
