Hi Fred,

If the update isn't showing immediately for you, click the ellipses at the top-right of the CC desktop app, and choose "Check for App Updates".

You should be able to see the Photoshop update after the refresh.

Let us know if you still have trouble.

Updated but this didn't fix my issue that's newly occurring since updating to 20.0.1. Support only gives forums as options - there's nothing in forums addressing my issue. What do I do now?

Hi Mac,

Sorry this update didn't fix the issue you're running into.
Can you provide more information about what you're seeing with Photoshop?
Perhaps provide OS and version, and more details of what's going on so we can help further.

Better yet, would be to start a new conversation/thread here with the above details and we can assist you further there.

Regards,
Pete

Windows 10, HP Z8 W/S pretty loaded.

I've been working on a series of documents that are much constructed the same way. A photo layer and lots (dozens) of text and shape layers in each document.

All the documents are working fine except for one. On this document, none of the text layers are working correctly. I can select the text and a cursor is shown. But I can't edit the text - it doesn't change. However the layer panel text for that text changes on edit. If I Free Transform any of the text layers, the bounding box moves but the text does not move. It's as if the text layers are orphaned in some way in the document.

This seemed to start when I installed 20.0.1 a couple of weeks ago. 20.0.2 didn't change the issue (except any text edit I did in 20.0.1 on the problematic document is now garbled in 20.0.2). I've uninstalled an reinstalled 20.0.02 without effect.

If it's specific to this one document Mac, have you tried saving the document using Save As and creating a new filename, and thus a new PSD file?
Wondering if we're getting near file corruption that a new file might resolve.

Another duplication method would be to put all layers into a single group, and then Right-clicking that group in the Layers panel and Duplicating the group to a new document then saving that.

Curious if either of those suggestions helps with the successful editing of the text layers in your document?

Pete

Hi Pete - Jeff jumped in and helped me below. Turned out that it's a 3rd party filter that's operating on the whole document - not just the selected layer(s). I think this is a change in behavior and am contacting the vendor.

Thanks much!

Hello all.

Did this update fix the constrain link on the tool bar? I can't see any reference to it in the fixed issues.

I'm still not convinced that all is fixed.

I will keep using PS 2018 as I'm almost too scared that I'm going to be wasting more valuable time using the newer version of PS.

Doesn't look like they fixed the hotly contested issue of proportional transform via shift. Oh well, stick to v19

Martin and Julie,

Are you on Mac or Windows?
Was this happening prior to the 20.0.2 update or does it seem like a new issue for you?

Have either of you tried restoring the preferences to see if something is awry there?

Reset Photoshop preferences: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-trouble-shooting-steps.html#prefs

Let me know if that helps.

Pete

Mac user here, having the same issue with the text tool. This didn't happen until updating to 20.0.2. Restored my preferences just now and it's still broken. Had to switch back to 19.1.7 to finish my work.

Tony,

Thanks for jumping in with your experience so far. Sorry you're seeing this missing cursor with text issue.
It'd be good to somehow lock this down.

I'm not able to reproduce on my system here (Mac running Mojave 10.14.1).

For you, if you still have 20.0.2 on your system, what is needed to reproduce this?
  • New doc, basic text layer?
  • Complex many-layer document?
  • Particular fonts?
Any other details you can think of to help reproduce this is appreciated.

Regards,
Pete

Hi Pete, thanks for the reply. I actually went to try some more documents and fonts this morning, but the issue seems to have resolved itself somehow (maybe a computer restart did the trick). I'll reply back if it happens again.

Sorry for the trouble Hani!

Did you update to 20.0.2?
What are you up to when you see the annoying wheel? Is it during painting? or doing another task?
I'm assuming you're on macOS, can you provide which OS version you're using?

Of course, using a previous version that works best for you is a good option to get your work done, although we're working to resolve any bugs on our end as best we can and any detail you can provide is helpful.

Pete

If Hani means the radial menu wheel on the Cintiq, it's been happening to me to, for over a year now, along with other seemingly random and distracting phenomena that interfere significantly with my drawing. Obviously for me this started before v. 20 was released, and I'm on a mac operating Mojave but it also happened with previous systems and a whole slew of Wacom drivers. Have been in contact with tech support with both Wacom and Adobe and the latest Wacom driver helped some, but now the pop ups are starting again. I think it's probably a Wacom driver problem, but can you guys please work together a little more? Drawing shouldn't be this frustrating!

Yeah, so no legacy check box for "free" transformation needing the shift key or the accept transformation outside the tiny bounding box for rotating and accept transformation when adding a guide.

But I believe there is already an inconsistency. The official Adobe "what's fixed" states:

When in fact, it is the other way around, this behavior is now inconsistent with the way it works for the layers tool.

I have to admit I didn't know of either behavior, so in a way, it is a new feature for me.

Jimmy, release dates are generally very opaque for a number of reasons. I do know this liquify issue only affects a small number of older, specific AMD cards and their drivers.

20.0.2
- Does not open files with smart objects (even with one extra small smart object. That`s insane).
- slows down while watching an animation
- slows down without any reason
in the end, nothing has changed since 20.0.0

I still works on 19.1.7
thanks Adobe))))) not

this is early beta - not a final product.
Just don`t release it. Test it, before release.

Hi Aptem, I'm not able to reproduce what you're seeing. I'm wondering if there's some other problem or conflict happening that's machine specific. If customer weren't able to open files with Smart Objects, we'd be getting 100s/1000s of reports already.

Could you provide a link (dropbox/CC files) to a file with a Smart Object that won't open, and a file with the type of animation where you're seeing a slowdown.

Unfortunately not. These images are subject of commercial secret. In any case, these errors are observed in all files containing objects that are intentionally - even new ones created in 20.0.2.
How can I help you to solve this problem? Maybe I'll show you how it works through Adobe Connect. And we compare how both programs work on my computer

I did not even begin to shoot the process of opening a file with smart objects, because it does not end. in CC2018 time is 15 seconds and in CC2019 is infinite

Hi Artem, I can see the problem in your video but I cannot recreate it. It's either file or system specific. If I contact you via email would be possible to get ahold of the files to start troubleshooting with? Other than that, I'd recommend trying to restore your preferences. Getting a process sample during the open process while it's hung/slow/processing might help, too. System info from Photoshop's Help > System Info...  dialog from both 2018 and 2019 might also help.

At Pete's suggestion, I'm moving my post above to here.

Windows 10, HP Z8 W/S pretty loaded.

For good.

Earlier today I started over with the offending document and painstakingly reconstructed it step by step. Turns out it was the use of a plugin (Viveza 2 in the Nik - [now DxO] - filters). I only had the picture layer selected. Performed the filter function and merged the resulting two layers. At that point, all the text and shape layers in the document do not work correctly. So, likely the filter is the offender here - though this did not happen in 19.1.7 I think - perhaps the vendor needs to update.

Just to close the loop, it looks like DXO Vivenza is creating a composite layer of all the layers at the top of the stack. So if you try and edit a type layer below that, it looks like it's not updating.

In ACC / Ps CC2019 2.0.2:
Clicking on "What's New?" takes you to an Adobe advisory panel which has not been updated since last October so it does not mention which bugs have been fixed (or not!) or if any new features were introduced in 2.0.2.

Having that information is essential before we spend time installing an Update.
-------
This may have been fixed since I installed 2.0.2 last night if ACC's "What's New" is now linking to:

I've updated yesterday, but I found a lack of performance, dialogs saying "program error" and some freezes at startup and using fonts. Not common issues in 20.0 and 20.0.1 it was working great and no bugs then.
This is FYI only, I have a lot of work, no time to waste "trying anything".  Sorry!
I must say: "Thank you for let us downgrade" Hope you can fix those bugs in near future. I will wait to 20.0.3 or better. No issues after reinstalling 20.0.1 I've lost prefs but that's a good price to work with no issues.

I think the Histogram area would show "Photo is Missing" though...

That lightning bolt means this image is in an earlier Process Version. If you convert it to the current one (5) in the Calibration panel, does the menu command become accessible? I don't have any problem with images in Version 4, but maybe much earlier versions cause this issue. Just making an edit in Lightroom should update the Process version too.

Resetting the preferences might be what you need. It doesn't sound like user error. Take notes or screenshots of your current preferences. You can do the reset by holding Alt and Shift keys while launching Lightroom. Then reconfigure any changed preferences. Resetting preferences often fixes glitches that have no explanation.

And yet here we go again with updates that introduce new bugs.
Seems to get my ordinary procedure, to skip every update with even numbers...

So with this update I can't open RAW files anymore if they're on a network... GREAT JOB ADOBE
(iMac Retina, late 2015, High Sierra)

EDIT: And since it is a Camera RAW issue, it can't be reverted to an older version.
