The update to the character leading is welcome, albeit not complete, as it does not retain feature parity with CC 2017, most notably in that the lack of real-time preview of the leading. This creates the need for lots of unnecessary clicks and still hinders an efficient text-based workflow in Photoshop. Please see the attached video link. Thanks!

I thought that was broken, but hadn't yet tested against 2017. You're totally right, of course. With CC17, you could preview text option changes without hitting return... I wonder if this is a bug or intentional?

why do you think adobe loves subscription?

they could do nothing and the cash cows have to pay anyway when they want to use the buggy software.  the only hope is that some day there will be a real competition for photoshop. until then adobe will hire the worst coders they can find for the least amount of money.

imho adobe software was never this buggy. since the CC stuff it ́s a mess.
one bug fixed... two new introduced......

I was told by an Adobe supervisor it is to be expected and intentional and not a feature of Photoshop 2018!  WTF is with that??!?!?

This is the first thing I noticed after the update. How it goes unnoticed is beyond me. Hopefully it won't take as long to issue an update to fix the bugs the bug fixes created.

PNG Image Sequence Export remains broken with v19.0.1 and Windows 10 (this is being raised by others on the Community forum.

From a video timeline - Render to PNG image sequence is greyed

From a frame animation timeline - Export - render to PNG sequence gives Program error

Thanks David,

We are aware of the PNG image sequence export issues, and the bug fix did not make it into this release. Hang in there.

Hmmm ...  I updated.  It seemed to work.  It says "No updates."  But, the About Photoshop window still shows 19.0 - not 19.0.1.  It would be helpful to always have the correct version number shown.

Apologies Don.

Check Photoshop’s Help > System Info to ensure the 19.0.1 update has installed correctly, look for r.190 in the top line “19.0 20171103.r.190”.   If the update did not apply, you’ll see r.165 in the top line.

Alternatively:
Mac: Get Info on the Photoshop CC 2018 application and see the Version line
Windows: Navigate to Photoshop’s installed directory, Right click the Photoshop.exe, choose Properties, then click the Details tab and see the Product Version line.

Thanks for the info, Pete.  Mine shows 19.0.1 in all locations - it must be right.  It seems to be working fine for my uses.

Thank god , it appears on quick test to be usable and glitch out and go super slow.
2017 when it was first released was unusable in a professional setting.
However after a few months and updates it became one of the best version yet in my eyes.

Now on 2018. I’ve gone back to really really laggy and buggy - just like 2017 first release .
Simple coming on a light 100mb image would skip and paint 2 secs late .

However a quick test today on a 8GB 80 layers 20,000 px x 9,000px image - it appears to have no lag in cloning and general tools selection.

Why release a version that is so slow and buggy ? Are they testing on 5mp images and just cropping and sharpening and not actually pushing it to professional retouching requirements ?

But why is the camera raw 32 bit support gone , that is crucial for some of my work bringing in multiple pass 3D renders in from other programs .

Speaking to some colleagues in the 3D architectural visualisation industry and 3D animation , Adobe have just knocked out a huge part of a massive industry’s requirements to deal with 32bit EXR files - And it’s all over the 3D studio Max forums, worldwide

I updated to 19.0.1 this morning, and everything is lovely with the exception of the Character palette. I'm suddenly unable to see increases or decreases made to any inputs in the Character palette via the up- and down-arrow keys in real time (only when I tab out of a field or hit Enter to commit the change does the actual type onscreen update). I'm able to make updates with arrow keys in other palettes (e.g. Paragraph). Is this something anyone else has experienced?

Thanks for tackling all this, team.

Resizing the brush is still laggy with a low frame rate, though :-/

https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/brush-resizing-lag-in-new-2018-update?topic-r...

Also, brush rendering is notably slower than 2017

> Resizing the brush is still laggy with a low frame rate, though :-/ >

The only way I'm able to notice laggy and low frame rate is if I'm dragging to resize on the diagonal — the more diagonal the worse— instead of horizontal. Is there something else I can try besides that to see if I can force brush resizing to be laggy?

> Also, brush rendering is notably slower than 2017 >

Does "brush rendering" mean you're seeing the brush view lag when drawing? What types of brushes, what size? A random selection of mine at various sizes doesn't appear to be lagging, but perhaps if I tried the types of brushes you're using at the sizes you're using?

I'm on a Mac running El Capitan. I've tried on both the old machine that I normally use for this, and the much faster, newer laptop, and it seems to feel to me to be about the same as 2017, if not a bit more responsive. Purely subjective, though.

Hey Cristen,
You may notice it more if you try it side by side in 2017 & 2018?
As far as the brush lag, it is not happening consistently for me so I can't name the issue yet. It's not layer size or anything as I've tried the same file in both 2017 and 2018 and it's fantastic in 2017 and annoying in 2018, and it isn't the amount of smoothing either... but currently it's working fine.
Brush resizing is noticeably different between the two with just the standard adjustable round brush 100% of the time for me. In 2017 if you move back and forth resizing it quickly, it feels like a rubber band that is stretching, if you do the same thing in 2018, the size of the brush doesn't even change much until you slow down. But luckily they acknowledged this and are working on it.
High Sierra here, with a laptop more than capable of resizing a brush fluidly :-P

Other people are mentioning it. I can't seem to reproduce it, even with the plain round brush. Maybe I'm not as quick as others, or my computer is just slow enough, it masks the symptoms.<G>

Why is Smoothing still unable to be turned OFF?

It's still getting reenabled on launch. I even rebuilt brush presets and still, there it is, turned ON again on relaunch.

Device Preview? Where is is?
Why on Earth didn't you put this functionality back?!?! - There is no way I'm updating Photoshop until you put Device Preview back.

No seriously... Can we get an explanation for why this critical functionality is still missing?

1.When I drag the adjustment layer to a smart object file (liquefied), will be very slow. This file with a smart object is saved and closed, when open it will be.

2.When you liquefy with alt keys and hand-painted pen resize, it will shake around.

3.These questions from cc 2015 there.

Wacom pressure not working in 2018 is a big issue for PS Wacom users. I just updated 19.0.1 and was disappointed to see that the problem remains unfixed. I hope to see this solved soon, until that I have to use 2017. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2398372#

Hi, we are getting spotty jaggies on our imported graphics.

Method: Placing vector AI as a smart object into Photoshop CC

Notes: Anti-aliased is checked and we tested all the different preferences for image interpolation.

Anyone else getting this issue? We noticed it yesterday, so it's been going on for about 2 days. These graphics have been used before in the same workflow/setting without issue. Both programs are up to date. Changing viewing/preview mode doesn't seem to do anything. They're importing and exporting this way.

The chances of these bugs being related is probably unlikely, but it's causing the same effect... and given how some of these bugs have been caused by seemingly unrelated things, it's worth a correlation I guess:

@Stephen Newport - Thanks for the link. I wonder! It definitely seems to be something with anti-aliasing, aliasing, edges. When we turn OFF anti-aliasing, it actually looks a little better! We turned off auto interpolation in the preferences, too.

@charlene chua - Thanks for testing this on your Surface Pro. Yes, we're both on iMacs, one on High Sierra and one on Low Sierra OS.

@Prince Ce It's long been fixed, but thanks for that! I had just grabbed some quick examples to illustrate the graphics problem. The logo isn't even technically correct. ;-) The jaggies are still present when exporting anything from Photoshop or placing AI graphics into it from Illustrator.

I can no longer use GPU acceleration since the 19.01 update. I have removed and reinstalled my graphic drivers for both my GPU GTX 1050 and Intel 630 with no luck. Running Windows 10 creator edition.
