Photoshop: Becomes unresponsive when trying to save, causes all other Adobe programs to become unresponsive

This has got to be the most annoying thing I've EVER experienced. I'm a Graphic Designer so naturally I use Adobe programs like photoshop and dreamweaver daily. I've been using these products for years and have never had problems like this before.

Often when I try to save a document in photoshop the program becomes unresponsive and causes my other adobe programs to become unresponsive also. This only happens when saving normally or saving for web, which basically makes the program useless right now. After the programs become unresponsive I have to force quit everything, shut down my computer and restart it to even get the programs to work again.. Completely deleting everything I was previously working on.. I have had this issue on multiple imacs.

This has to be the most frustrating thing that can happen to a graphic designer as I am constantly having to re-do work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, if I don't respond to your recommendations its because my computer has taken a 3 story plummet to its death out my window!

What OS/version are you running on? What version of Photoshop are you running?

Are you saving to the main hard drive (e.g. desktop) or are you saving to a network volume or server? Do you have Adobe Drive installed or enabled?

I am on OS X Version 10.9.5

I am trying to save on both the desktop and a company server

And I do not believe that I have Adobe Drive installed or enabled

What version of Photoshop are you using?

So saving to the desktop also causes unresponsiveness? Or just to the server?

Can you go to Preferences>File Handling... and see if Adobe Drive is enabled there?

Im using CS6 Version 13.0.6 x 64

Yes I believe it happens when I save to both but is certainly a more frequent occurrence when saving to the server.

It doesn't look like Adobe Drive is installed as that feature is not clickable

Try restoring your preferences: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201... If you do restore your prefs, please save a copy of your existing prefs in case they turn out to be the culprit. Having the bad prefs can sometimes help us track down the issue.
