Photoshop - Automatically add adjustment layer as clipping group using modifier key.

It would be very handy if holding a modifier key when adding an adjustment layer automatically added it as a clipping group to the layer immediately below.

For example I would hold control or command, select my adjustment layer from the popup menu at the bottom of the layers palette and viola - layer instantly added and clipped to the layer beneath it!

Command and control are not currently reserved for anything else in this situation.

I'm aware of holding option when doing the same brings up the new layer dialogue (and I can check the box) or I could add the layer and use the keyboard shortcut but to do it with less clicks would be a time saver.

If there is already a way to do this it would be great if someone let me know how.

OK...I've found an acceptable workaround for this by adding the adjustment layer via the adjustment layer panel.

I've set the adjustment layer panel's option to automatically clip the layer.

If I want an unclipped adjustment, I add it via the popup in the layers panel.

If I want it clipped I add it via the adjustment panel.

For the record, the workaround I thought I had above doesn't work.

The setting in the adjustment layer panel is global and triggers the same behaviour in both layers panel and adjustment layer panel.

So, as stated in my first post a modifier key would be very helpful to trigger the clipping group.
