It'd be nice to be able to set the brush opacity when using the Select and Mask tool. The hardness setting is nice and works for many cases, but being able to adjust the opacity would come in handy as well.

Yes, would be nice. And please add blending modes for the brush like "soft light" and "overlay". Those are used all the time, if you are working with the brush on a mask in Photoshop.

Ya, I agree. I was thinking about adding other feature requests in this feature request, but figured including and focusing on one would be more affective.

I find I often have to switch back and forth between the select and mask workspace and quickmask tool to make certain changes when I wanna do something that select and mask doesn't support.

I appreciate and like the suggestion and am glad I'm not the only one who thinks opacity control would be helpful.

To a much lesser extent, I think it'd be helpful to have access to channels while in select and mask mode as well, but that'd be nowhere near as helpful as having more control of how the brush works.

Hey Graham,

Which workspace are you referring to here?  And which tool are you talking about?  Could you please use the names we call them in the UI, cuz if I am understanding, this is working fine for me.

Thanks,
David

The tool (but it's also kind of the workspace as well) I'm referring to is the "Select and Mask" tool (that replaced the "Refine Edge" tool) which puts you in the Select and Mask workspace. Highlighted in the green box with the green arrows pointing at it in the following picture is the tool I'm talking about.

Then, while in the Select and Mask workspace, there's the brush tool to paint on the desired selection. When using this brush tool (while in the Select and Mask workspace), the only options for editing the brush is to increase the size, decrease the size, and alter the hardness, spacing, and roundness/angle of the brush. The brush editing area is highlighted by the green arrows pointing to it in the attached picture.

It'd be nice, if there were also the option to adjust the brush opacity as well as the brush blend mode just like on the normal brush tool when you're not in the Select and Mask workspace.

Hopefully that's a bit clearer. It's not that there's a bug or something isn't working, but it'd be a nice additional feature that's currently not present.

Blend modes have been asked for many times before. I don't recall if a feature request has been put in for opacity, but it seems a natural in the S&M workspace. Certainly I'll vote for both.
