Photoshop 21.3.0 Problems

I am re-posting this under the correct heading  as I stupidly headed my original post Photoshop 12.2, a typing error, & everyone will think I am referring to the latest version of Camera raw & not the latest Photoshop version.

I am having the following issues with the June update of Photoshop 21.3.0.

Processing raw files from camera, I open in Photoshop & then open Levels to use the black & white colour droppers in conjunction with the ALT key (Windows) to set the black & white levels.

The images changes to black or white, depending which dropper I am using, but just freezes instead of becoming darker or lighter, depending which dropper I am using. They do not work at all & I have never had this problem before in all the many years I have used Photoshop. I either have to revert to the Auto button or miss this stage altogether.

The second issue is that when editing an image in Photoshop 21.3.0 I will often send it to the plug-in Nik Efex, do some work on it & then reopen in PS as a new layer. Turning the new layer on & off should allow me to see the effect of my change but turning the layer off is not now turning it off & I am therefore unable to see the effect of any changes I have made with the plug-in.

The third issue is that to finish my images I use the type tool to title them, reduce the opacity to 40% to make a pleasant grey type rather than a harsh black, & finally click 'Flatten Layers' to finish the image. When flattened the type reverts back to 100% black & does not stay grey. To get it to stay grey I have to un-flatten & then re-flatten the image several times before the final image stays grey & I can save it. This has never happened before & the update has obviously upset something.

I have had the odd thing not working after an update in PS over the years but to discover three issues in five minutes doing basic edits that I have done without any problems for the past ten years or so is rather unbelievable & disappointing.

I can only hope others have the same issues & Adobe corrects them as soon as possible as simple image editing has now been made very frustrating/difficult for me.

I edited my post a few moments ago but it does not seem to show in my text. I have no idea why the edit did not work.

I should have typed Photoshop 21.2.0 & not 21.3.0

Sorry for my error.

@Lee Tucker: re "I edited my post a few moments ago but it does not seem to show in my text. I have no idea why the edit did not work."

I have noticed that if I start to edit a post and somebody else posts a comment after the one I was editing before I submit my edit, that my edited version does not "take"... What I do then is to copy what I wrote and paste it as a new comment... That might be what you encountered.

I thought I should update my original post to save wasting anyone's time.

I have solved my problem by resetting my preferences & everything is now working as it should. I have no idea what the update did to my existing preference file.

The only problem now is that I have never had to reset my preferences under any circumstances for longer than I can remember & I can't recall what all my preferences are/were!

You just can't win, can you?

Lee Tucker: Glad you got this resolved!

Re "You just can't win, can you??" I used to say "Keep your chin up! (makes a better target...)"
