Looks like some of those bugs that were really impacting productivity in v21.1 have been addressed. Thanks for getting these fixes out, Team Adobe.

Nb. Of course, I'll be sticking to 20.0.9 for the time being. I have work to do. I look forward to hearing from people who have time to test this latest release.

Thanks Pete for the info.

Just to let you know that still after this update, the UI Font Size Preference reset to default. This has been happening since v21.0.3.

Been reported here:

Thanks Rosa!

Looks like Jeff provided more info on the thread there -- Fix is coming, just didn't make it into this particular update.

Regards,
Pete

Hi Pete,

In your post you mention that this update fixes reported issues including "layer thumbnails".  However, in the fixed issues list there is no mention of a problem regarding layer thumbnails. Do you know which issue has been fixed? I am asking because I still have this issue with thumbnails in the latest version.

Hi Andrei,

Here's the bug description for the thumbnail fix that went into 21.1.1 -- "Layer via copy (Cmd+J) results in empty layer thumbnail".

The bug you point out seems relative to Windows scaling values and will be fixed in an upcoming release. You may already know the workaround, but setting Windows scaling to 100% and restarting Photoshop should at least work around the issue for now if it's causing major issues for you.

Regards,
Pete

V 21.1.1 does seem to have fixed the problem with tools / brushes shooting left and up when mouse released. I did have a LOT of difficulty with the Update process, tried five times with similar but different files referenced in the error messages, all were missing from C:\Adobe temp. I finally completely uninstalled Photoshop v 21.03 and tried once more, with same failure. I then deleted that directory, rebooted PC, and did fresh install from Creative Cloud. That worked!  I am wondering whether those temp files are leftovers from my previous CS6 which I uninstalled last fall! Problem solved... but observations re why I was having difficulty and those mysterious c:\adobe temp\ files might have been would be appreciated.  (The temp files were not recreated upon fresh installation...)

Thanks Earth. Yeah,  I suppose my notes above don't mention the process for clicking the hamburger dots and then clicking "Check for updates" -- which for you --- relaunching the CCD essentially did. Sorry for the confusion!

Pete, i no longer see the Check for Updates command? I just have Other Versions, Uninstall and Learn More.
And relaunching didn't work, either. I had to fully log out of my account on this machine and then log back in before the updates showed.
Could have been an issue with a pr version or something tho...

I found that I had to check for updates Under Help menu on CCD.

Ahhh, i see it now. Rosa, if you're in the Update section in CC, then the '...' Check for Updates is in the upper right, but if you're in All Apps, the Check for is in the Help menu. Not confusing at all!

I'm curious what this means: canvas re-draw and update errors

There's no mention of what these fixes actually fix in the fixed issues list. And the artboard/canvas redrawing bug I posted 2 weeks ago is still here.

An interesting bit of fallout from the 21.1.0 problem with tool brushes darting left and up:  AMD posted an image of one of their CPUs with public permissions to use it, some graphic artist took that image, made a background layer using one of the orange colors on the chip, then used Gradient. The result was that there is a wide swath of black from the bug, going up and left. To make matters worse, the graphic artist apparently tried several things to repair, with the result being that the final image has lots of "dirt" specs inside the swath, possibly from reduction of opacity and attempts to use Healing tool.

Then, an author on the financial Forum Seeking Alpha which is very widely read, used that image as an illustration in a story about AMD. Following is a "snip" from that article.

lol. are you joking? That's a needle holding a chip which was photographed through a microscope...
and the healing marks you see look like compression artifacts to me.

No it is not> That package CPU would be far out of scale compare to any needle. One does not require a microscope to see a CPU "package".. Sorry, already been there with this subject including discussion with the author.

Here are the dimensions of that package:
3.5mm high, ~37 mm on each side, and 1.5mm from the edge of the package, making the package 40mm x 40mm.

Certainly large enough for ordinary Macro lens photography.

i know microscopy when i see it and that is 100% micro, not macro. And the black line in the corner is not an artifact from any Ps bugs. It's quite obviously a real world object.

Have you ever actually seen a CPU outside of it's case? If you had, you would realize how silly your argument is....

End of this thread of discussion .

I will be sticking with the older version of Photoshop 20.0.9 because 21.1.1 is giving nasty issues with rendering 3D extrusions with unwanted reflections superimposing over the render. I like the object selection tool it's handy but the 3D rendering issue really needs to be addressed. https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/cc-v-21-0-3-3d-uv-scaling-results-in-incorrec...
