Photoshop 21.0.1: Freeze/Beachball

I have 21.0.1. No more recent updates. However, using Mac with Mojave it crashes constantly. I use a filter and I get the spinning beach ball. I copy and paste I get the spinning beach ball. It's pretty random, and very frustrating. So no, the newest version does NOT fix a lot of the problems. This should have been taken care of long ago.

Can you get a process sample for Photoshop when the freeze occurs? Share the log via CC files or Dropbox.

Howdy Paul,

Just a hunch, but you might want to check your system font cache.  They're rather fragile during upgrades on Mac (both OS and applications).  The steps to validate and regenerate the font caches (you've got two!) can be found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop.html
If the problems persist, please let us know!
Thanks,
David

I'm in the same boat, but on Catalina (latest version). The beachball seems very random, but when it hits, I have to wait 2 to 3 minutes for it to stop. It was crashing the system, but after the last update, it generally doesn't fully crash it. I have turned off the Font Preview and will see if that helps. Anyway, on to the next issue (another post).

Howdy Glenn,

Check out my earlier post with regard to your system cache.  Thus far it seems to be the silver bullet, though this story is still developing.  Any feedback you have would be helpful in finding a solution...

Thanks,
David

Thank you David. As the instructions say, working with Terminal can be risky if you aren't sure what you are doing. I can tell you I just tried to resize a selection and got the beachball for about 2+ minutes before it would let me go any further. I had already deselected the Font Preview in PS and restarted the program. I'm not sure I'm comfortable working in Terminal.
