Photoshop 21.1.1: Always has snap to pixel grid enabled

The option in preferences-tools to disable this behaviour doesn't do anything. The transform handles and rotation of smart objects no longer has that fine control but instead jumps from pixel to pixel. Forced me to revert to 21.0.2, which works fine, so the error is in one of the later versions, probably 21.1.1.

The bug appears in various forms. In version 21.0.3 for example you can do fine rotations and scaling while using free transform of a smart object but as soon as you place it it'll snap to the grid, completely ignoring the setting again. In version 21.1.0 it does that snapping while you're transforming. I'll try to track down how this has changed over the updates.

As far back as 20.0.9 there is always snapping to the grid after placing a smart object using free-transform, but at least you have fine control over rotation and other effects. But it won't anti-alias the shape where it is. It first snaps it up and left before applying any anti-aliasing. I guess I only noticed this when there was no fine control anymore while free-transforming, skewing, etc. but that snapping to the grid when placing the shape is a bug that goes way back. I only have access to version 20.0.9.

Howdy Russ,
Are you having this problem on Win or Mac?  Could you give me an example of this problem in 21.1.1?  I can start with that and expand.  FWIW, I'm not seeing this problem on my machine, but maybe I'm trying slightly different steps.  Give me a detailed set of steps and I'll try to get this resolved.
Thanks,David

I'm on Windows 10 Pro. With the latest version of PS if I do free transforms there's a huge difference between how it works in 21.0.3 and 21.1.1, enough to make me revert and not update. I'm just sick of updates breaking existing features. Try this in both versions. Place an SVG as a smart object. In free transform rotate the object. Notice the difference in how this works. In the older version you had very very fine control over the rotation. In the latest versions it's snapping to the pixel grid as it rotates. It does this for all of the transform modes including skew and distort. Also notice that in all versions the image will shift up and left as it's placed (snapping to the pixel-grid) rather than anti-aliasing properly right where it is. That's a second bug that is minor in comparison to the loss in control when transforming.

Hello, by wrapping the .svg in a smart object, we can handle it very precisely! I just tested it on macOS.
