Photoshop 2018: Can't add or delete points on shape path

Photoshop 2018 can't add or delete points on shape path, just get pen icon with star, no minus or plus no matter where I click or hoover. If I have Shape selected any stray point creates a new layer (this may be correct but is frustrating trying to edit /  deselect and find new layers). Same file works fine in PSD 2017.

Hey there,

Could you tell me more about your setup?  I just tried to add points to a Shape I created and it worked fine on both Win and Mac.  Ditto for removing points.  What specific steps are you doing?

Thanks,
David

Just tried again. New doc. Select pen tool. Select "shape" (or "path", neither works) at top menu. Make path. Hoover pen tool over line and pen will not change to add point or delete point. Just the star icon at pen shows. Can only move or adjust existing points. Can convert point but the convert icon does not show up as in past normal behavior. Do same steps in 2017 and it works fine. Checked all prefs, nothing different.

What OS are you running on?  What kind of pointing device are you using?  A pen tool?  What manufacturer?  Have you tried with a regular mouse?

Thanks,
David

Hi, it was the regular mac mouse. Another preferences reset didn't help, finally uninstalled the whole PSD 2018 app, restarted the computer and reinstalled. Now it is working so it must have been a conflict or gllitch somewhere. Thanks for your feedback!
