This may be part of the brush smoothing feature that was added. It defaults to 10%. See what happens when you turn it to 0...

This may have been part of a fix that was resolved in the 19.0.1 update released last night. Please update Photoshop using the Creative Cloud desktop app, and let us know if it's fixed for you.

Hi Hannah, I have this issue as well when I'm painting on a layer inside a group. It makes touching up linework a nightmare unless I remove it from the folder first. The problem was present in PS2018 both before and after the update 2 days ago. Unfortunately the issue is unrelated to smoothing settings.

Does setting smoothing to 0% work any better? Are you on Mac or Win? Using a tablet/pen, mouse or other?

I'm on the latest version, smoothing is off, but the lag is still present. It's small but very annoying. Updating Wacom drivers doesn't help, only restarting PC solves the issue, but only for a while. Reproduces even on small and newly created documents. Even falling back to 2017 version doesn't help, though it worked fine before the update to 2018. Since I don't expect it fixed any time soon, is there a way to use "real" 2017 version and not the "2018 with some tweaks"?

I tried smoothing down to zero, I tried updating to the latest version, updating my computer, putting it to basic brush,

I should have been coming to these comments a month ago. I'm using Adobe Photoshop Version: 20.0.1 20181029.r.41 and I have several issues, all reported and most commented on by a tech. Photoshop is NOT working and I'm paying for it. I even downloaded a previous version and it cannot launch because of serial number issues. In V20 my serial number is twenty digits but what I see in the notes about a serial number is that it should be 24 digits. The 'support pages' put me in a loop and I now make a point of commenting almost every time.
