There is a bug creating text box, After adding text to a section outline in Layer, The Character / Paragraph dialog *Intiially* sets the vertical spacing to an infinite value, causing any new line to disappear off the page. After forcing it several times it finally recognized the value 5000 as the maximum... then it was possible to enter a reasonable value the program recognized.

Howdy Ian,

The Leading is set in the Character Panel and defaults to Auto unless changed by the user.  Auto is about x1.2 the font size, give or take.  Thus, it's about 14pt if you're using 12pt text.

Now, if you set these values and transform the type, you'll get the product of the two values.  And, keep in mind, Photoshop's type settings are "sticky" meaning that you will automatically inherit the last settings used.

I'm really curious about what you mean when you say that you forced it to recognize 5000 -- that's the limit for the field normally (unless you transform the type).  What values were you seeing?

Thanks,
David
