Elements 10: Issue with PNG to JPG Conversion

I've had photoshop 10 for many years and never had any issues converting/saving .png files to .jpg files until yesterday. I perform the same save as action, and it appears to save normally, giving me the dialog box where I select quality, etc.

But, it does not work. It's saving something, but not a .jpg or a usable file type. I will include a screenshot below which shows the original .png image and the output once I try to convert it. I tried rebooting my computer and even removing the program and reinstalling, but that did not fix the issue.

Hi Tiffany, Just looking at this screen shot the size seems very tiny for 72 dpi? at 42KB and the JPG file is 41KB. Can you check the fine details of each, and see if they are exactly the same.
I checked to see what compliace 1.5 means and it may be a bug.
I use Elements 13 and have had crashed since I installed Catalna10.15.2 so it may be just that. Maybe try saving it for Web first and see if you can do it like that.
I also notice that the first file is 5 file with no type included.
Maybe give that file a label, png and then try to convert again to jpg.
I am not an expert just a user, so good luck with your project. It is so frustrating when things do not work and I understand that feeling.

Thank you so much for your help! I think this started after a computer update I did, but not entirely sure. The problem just weirdly resolved itself. I'm not sure if the issue was the file name (by titling it .5 it was trying to convert to a non-existent file type), or if it really was a bug that was fixed by an update to update that occurred after the computer update?
