All the procedures?

Without more details, impossible to find what is wrong. A screenshot should be very helpful to explain the '2 copys of the same image'.

I have re installed PS14 and have encountered the same problem part of witch i can not get both images into the 'bin to do a merge. I have tried all the apparent options. The over all feel of this 'cutesy' redo on what was a good stable program, I was using PSE7 before, I am looking at asking for a refund at the retailer and going back to the PSE7. Please note that I had tried all the 'form recommended fixes before this reinstall.

It looks like you're trying to merge to a logo with a photograph. is that correct? Photo merge is used to merge multiple photos together into a panorama.

The two copies are what you are asking in the dropdown menu of the third line: before and after. You have two images in the photobin, and they can't be candidates for merging, they are not 'overlapping' scenes. Is your goal to add a watermark?
On the other hand, to merge pictures from the photobin, you should select all the pictures individually (ctrl + click) which show each thumbnail surrounded by a thin white rectangle. In your screenshot, only one thumbnail is selected.

That is the problem. I can not chose/select both as it will only highlight one or the other. As to the other comment. both images are PNG created with PSE7 and I am trying to place them side by side to create one image displaying fully both images in the 'bin'.

I tried creating the desired final image by copy-paste of both images onto a 'blank' image, which I have done in the past, but after failing several times, due to a resulting serious red color cast to the larger image, I moved to attempting a side by side pano.

After spending way too many hours trying to make PS14 work I reinstalled PS7 and with 4 or 5 clicks the job was done. PSE14 in my opinion is a BOGUS release and my only recourse is what????

Please someone out there give us a recourse with software companies that sell products that do not work.
