Hi all!In Photoshop CC 19.1.4 the photomerge function seems to be broken. If I try to stack images with a different focus point the images aren't blended together. One of them always has a white mask while all other images get a black mask and nothing is blended. The problem appears on MAC OS and also on Windows.

I'm not sure this is the way to do it. What still works fine is to load the files as layers in Photoshop, then use 'Auto-align layers', followed by 'Auto-blend layers'.

Thanks for the hint Johan. This works fine for me, too but i'm sure it worked in previous versions the way I wrote above. Still broken in 19.1.5 from today!

I'm not so sure it did work with Photomerge directly. Photomerge expects panorama images, that's why you see them being masked the way you saw it.

If I Google on 'focus stack photoshop' I see a lot of tutorials. I checked a few and they all use the workflow I described.

Mr. Muller—Going back to CS4 when Focus Stacking became a feature, it wasn't in the Photomerge dialog and has always relied upon the Auto-Blend Layers dialog. Since Panorama is included in that dialog, perhaps that is what made you sure it worked fine in Photomerge.
You can Google for images of the Photomerge dialog in PS, LR, ACR, and PSE, and you'll see that none of them contain an option for focus stacking—or you can come back and show us just what version of PS departed from the norm<G>

The main thing is you do have access to the feature.
