Photohop CC 21.1.2: Free Transform tool warp grid resets when re-editing existing transformation on smart objects.

Assume I have a smart object and I’ve applied some transformation to it using the Free Transform tool and one of the transformations was wrap. When I want to re-fine my transformation and execute Free Transform tool again on that same smart object all transformations from previous edit are kept (scale, perspective, skew etc.) but warp.

It’s very painful especially when I have complicated transforms which I need to re-edit from the scratch.

This happens quite often mostly when I used different grid size than the default one (e.g. 4x4).

The other problem is, that when the initial transform is made using the default grid, then sometimes after re-launching Free Transform, the grid size on existing Warp transformation changes to a different one, and in most of the case ruining the warp from the initial edit.

Personally I consider the recent improvements applied to Warp essentially a waste of resources as long as the angles of the handles of non-corner-points snap to 90 ̊ on editing but I have not had the opportunity to observe the issues you described yet.

Can you provide an exact recipe (with screenshots including the pertinent Panels) to reproduce the issue?
And maybe even a file itself in which the Warp changes on transforming?

There is at least one existing issue with very extreme transformations of Smart Objects, but I doubt that’s what you are observing.

In the Google Drive folder below you can find a PDF guide how to reproduce the problem as well as one PSD file

I cannot reproduce the issue, neither with your image

nor with a newly created transformation/warp.

It's strange. When I closed the PSD file and Photoshop and re-opened it, the issue is gone.
