Elements Organizer: How to set up Adobe Photo Downloader

Have Elements 10. When I plug it my memory stick, instead of getting the Photo downloader dialog I get the following message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if allready installed, create an association in the Default Program Control panel"

How do I fix this problem?

The message you are seeing is not coming from Photoshop Elements, but from you OS, as it doesn't know what to do with the memory card you are plugging in. We need to set up Photoshop Elements as the "program that will be associated with performing this action". This is performed at the system level, where you set up Elements Organizer as the default application to use for this device, the exact steps depend upon your OS.

For example, on Windows XP, once the device is plugged in, it should show up in My Computer. From there, right-click the device and choose Properties. In the Properties dialog, go to the Events tab. Select the "Camera Connected" event and select Elements Organizer as the Action "Start this program".

My PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium. This problem started about 2 weeks ago, up to that point it worked ok.
I followed your instructions and, unfortunately, they do not match Windows 7. I did click on auto play options and in there it shows Elements as the default program to load photos. I also went to the Default Program Control Panel and made sure that jpeg was associated with Elements.

Can you provided more help?

Thanks

Joe
