Photo sphere panorama viewing in Lightroom mobile

In the latest news on the Lightroom mobile website it says "Photo sphere panorama viewing is now supported on desktop browsers". However I can't get that to work. I have several panoramas and photo spheres (taken with an android phone) in my collections, but they will only display as a flat image.
Is there something I am missing? Do I have to have specific metadata or tell Lightroom somehow that an image is a photo sphere? Can this also be done with panoramas that Lightroom generated from my DSLR images?

Where did you find this info? As far as I know Lightroom does not support spherical panos in any way. It can't stitch them, can't display them except in a flat way nor will it correctly edit them respecting the wraparound barriers. I generally have to manually add the right metadata to image files to make them work with online viewers such as google maps.

The info is here: https://lightroom.adobe.com/news

10/19/2016 Suggested Crop, Search, and Photo Spheres
  • New Suggested Crop technology preview is available.
  • The search technology preview now supports searching in all supported languages.
  • Photo sphere panorama viewing is now supported on desktop browsers.
The Lightroom desktop software does not support anything related to spherical panos as far as I know, too (this would be great by the way). That's the reason why I was so surprised to read about photo spheres on the Lightroom mobile web page.

Weird. No clue what they are referring to. Have you tried looking at a photo sphere from your phone on http://Lightroom.adobe.com in a web browser on your desktop?

Yes, that was the first thing I tried. Perhaps its an issue with the photo spheres from my phone... I will try it with a photo sphere from another source.

It would be really nice if the photo sphere viewer could also display the panoramas generated by Lightroom itself (really useful with 360° panos for example). That is, if I get it working in the first place.

Some of my older panoramas (of the same phone!) seem to work, but some just don't. I can't find any difference between them and they both work on http://photosphereviewer.net/.

On the ones that do work the viewing angle is always interpreted as 360° horizontally and 180° vertically. Even though none of them is a full photo sphere...

I would love to see this working with panoramas of any viewing angle.
