I am new to photoshop and I am learning how to remove things from a photo. In the tutorial, it says that I have to select the part which I want to remove first, then I click Edit- Fill... But for me, it doesn't work. I am using the photoshop CC 2019 for mac, doest anyone know why and how can I fix it? Thanks!

The active Layer appears to be a Smart Object.
To apply a fill you can create a new Layer (hit the »page«-icon at the bottom of the Layers Panel or use Layer > New > Layer) or rasterise the SO.

Howdy Cecilia,

Typically when a feature/command is grayed out, it means that function isn't appropriate for your current context.  In this case, as Christoph points out, it's because you're trying to edit a Smart Object.  If you edit the source document, this shouldn't be a problem.

Enjoy
