Lightroom Classic: Photo Merge to HDR option gives inconsistent results

Trying to merge two photo to HDR gives differing results depending on the Deghost Amount. Setting Deghost to high gives a vibrant, high contrast image, using None gives a flat image.

Hi John,

What version of Lr are you using ?
Were you observing the same behaviour in earlier versions of Lr ?

Hi Arjun. Jeffrey.

This is using Lightroom Classic CC. I didn't notice this behaviour in earlier versions but I can't be sure that it wasn't there. 

Here are some sample images. The two .cr2 files are the raw images and the two dng files are the results from switching Deghosting from None to High
