Lightroom 6.3: Photomerge isn't working after upgrading

I have not seen any change to the problem with Photo Merge, which is basically, you select a few photos and then, either use the key combination Ctrl+M, or select from the right click menu, or the top menu. Then.......nothing. You are supposed to get a window that takes you through the next steps, right? Am I doing something wrong?

I haven't seen this reported, but I don't see everything.

Are you on a Mac or PC? What OS? Do or did you have multiple monitors? Is LR responsive after you do the Ctrl-M or do you have to hit Esc to make it work, again?

If you pick two photos that are incompatible with each other, such as a landscape and a portrait, and initiate a merge, the Panorama Merge Preview will still open with an error message that says they're incompatible.

Working fine here, John on both my Mac & Windows systems. CTRL M yields a Panorama Merge dialog as does right-click PhotoMerge>Panorama.

Have you tried resetting your preferences file?
Close Lightroom. Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] and launch Lightroom. Overwrite/Discard the preferences when prompted.

Since I posted this, I found that it wasn't consistently failing. There were two .nef files that I had made virtual copies of, because I wanted to reset them both to original condition before I merged them. That was before I did the latest upgrade, and I was getting the result I mentioned. Nothing happened, no window, no message. I didn't have to hit escape. It seemed to work okay except for the photo merge (both panorama and HDR) function. After I did the upgrade, those two pictures still wouldn't merge, (even after resetting my preferences).

However, other photos did merge. I don't know why those two won't work and others do. I know Adobe and Nikon seem to have some friction between them, but my others pictures are Nikon raw files too.
